I am once again asking: how, if at all, should I continue to write on LinkedIn?

Join the discussion on Linkedin.

Season’s greetings, everyone, and wishes for peace.

In the last year, my posts have garnered a neat million views, and a neat 10,000 engagements. Pretty nice, as a vanity metric.

Also brings a sense of responsibility – I’m taking a lot of time from people in the world!

I’ve never followed the algorithmic rules, properly – I’m too eclectic to be focused on ‘one topic’, even the beloved #systemsthinking | #complexity | #cybernetics#publicservice | #transformation. And I share ‘too much’ – well, there’s just too much to share.

So I do well, but I’m not funnelling you to my profile-as-landing-page, I’m not farming engagement for profit, I’m not even really selling anything. RedQuadrant and The Public Service Transformation Academy are cracking on amidst the challenges of UK public services, and thousands of people visit my page with information about the RedQuadrant tool shed, but only a very very select few join to learn with me.

And sometimes, sitting down to get something out by 7:30am (ish) on a Tuesday (my discipline) feels hard. I feel like I’m grinding out a column or a penny dreadful. Four years in, it doesn’t always come easy. I was early on the AI images, and I think that schtick is getting tired quickly 🙂

But looking at my popular posts, I’m reasonably proud. It keeps me testing ideas – and my writing – in a public space where there’s pressure to make things readable. And I get to put some genuinely interesting ideas out there… (see below for my top posts of the year).

So, this is my annual appeal for feedback: how, if at all, should I keep writing?

  1. I didn’t include my linkedin newsletter https://www.linkedin.com/newsletters/6867141552511295488/, even though two random editions (which didn’t seem special to me) received about 8,000 views.

But it is available (as are version of every post on https://www.chosen-path.org, https://medium.com/@antlerboy), mainly thanks to the excellent work of Amber Griffiths, who has helped me with all the poasting this year – thanks Amber!
