My Weekly Blog post:

As we gather at the Public Sector Show, I reflect on the multitude of challenges faced by the UK’s public sector. From austerity to Brexit, the climate crisis to COVID-19, and the pressing issues of social justice, I wonder how the speakers have navigated these hurdles and what steps we can take towards a brighter future.

I’m looking forward to hosting the Public Sector Show next week – in the midst of the polycrisis

Writing LinkedIn posts has become a regular morning ritual for me, but my feelings about them don’t affect their popularity. I’ve experienced moments of genius, frustration, and even reluctance. While reflecting on past posts and considering changes, I welcome input from those who have groaned or been inspired by my writing.

What have you read, from me, that resonated?

The second issue of ‘Systems Prospects,’ the newsletter of the Centre for Systems Studies (CSS) at the University of Hull, is introduced with gratitude for the positive feedback received for the inaugural issue. The editors emphasize their commitment to sharing diverse work in systems thinking and practice, and they discuss improvements in communication and event promotion. The CSS directors highlight recent conferences they have spoken at, and the Systems Students’ Community is celebrated for its six months of successful operation. The newsletter concludes with announcements and upcoming events. Overall, it presents a comprehensive update on the CSS activities and invites engagement from the systems thinking community.

I very much like this! My distinction is:

– Hamlet services (better it were not done at all, but if it will be done, it should be done quickly)

– customer intimacy services – real personal support

In future I will always make the point very clearly about the need for an escalation route (see HMRC!)
